Virat Kohli Now Holds 5 Records That Will Likely Never be Broken.

June 23, 2023/0 Comments/in Cricket News/by Nanu

Virat Kohli, the king of the chase and the run machine for Team India, may have gone more than two years without recording a century. Every athlete has what can seem like an unending wait during their career. Since joining Team India in 2008, Virat Kohli has seen great success and owns a number of records. He is one of Team India’s most effective captains because he has the highest victory percentage of any Indian skipper to date. Even though he may be taking a break from cricket, Virat has a tremendous legacy to look back on, including his records as a captain and a batsman. As we honour Virat Kohli’s legacy, have a look at these five unbreakable records.

Wicket on the 0th ball

As strange as it may sound, Virat Kohli holds a bowling record that is remarkably unlikely to be surpassed. On their first career ball, many people have been successful in getting a wicket. But Virat Kohli bagged a wicket on his first T20I delivery. Kohli’s first pitch was down the legside. Kavin Pietersen, who was outside of his crease, was misplayed by Dhoni. Kohli was awarded a wicket off of an illegal delivery because the umpire ruled that the ball was wide.

Seven double centuries as Test captain

Kohli is the Test cricket captain with the most double centuries. He slammed as much as seven double tonnes between 2016 and 2019. With five double century in Test matches, former West Indies captain Brian Lara comes in second.

Fastest Indian Captain to score 5000 ODI runs

Kohli became the batter to reach 5,000 runs the fastest while leading India. On January 19, 2020, at Bengaluru, he achieved the milestone during the three-match ODI series against Australia. To reach 5,000 runs as skipper in just 82 innings, Kohli broke Dhoni’s previous record of 127 innings. Apart from Kohli and Dhoni, Azharuddin and Ganguly are the only two Indian captains with 5,000 or more ODI runs.

Best batting average as Indian captain

Kohli easily maintains the best average among the greatest Indian captains of all time with a score of 72.65. He managed to keep that average after 95 games, which is undoubtedly an amazing statistic. In these games, Kohli scored an incredible 5449 runs. In 200 games, MS Dhoni amassed 6641 runs at an average of 53.5. Sourav Ganguly amassed 5104 runs with a 38.66 batting average in 147 games. Rahul Dravid, the current coach, had 79 games with an average score of 42.19.

Virat Kohli’s 70+* international centuries

Before quitting the game, Virat Kohli is expected to add a couple more centuries to his existing tally of 73 international centuries. Regardless of consistency, it seems impossible for anyone to even come close to this record. With 100 centuries, Sachin Tendulkar is ahead of Kohli. Joe Root, who has 44 tonnes, is the only active player who comes close to Kohli.
